Senior Manager - System Test and QA is responsible for planning, creating, executing and tracking all system level functional testing of F5 platforms. This person leads by establishing test strategies, processes and plans to validate that F5 hardware platforms perform as defined and architected. Coordinates project timelines with Project and Development Managers, determines and obtains resources, assigns work, monitors progress and results, and provides technical leadership. This Manager is a champion for product quality within the department and is accountable for an assessment of product readiness and commitments on product delivery schedules. This person also is responsible for introducing new test technologies and methodologies to be used for development and validation, which are expected to result in an improved product quality and/or reduced development cycle.
Responsibilities
To manage a team of 10 engineers responsible for the delivery of F5 platform level system test.
To develop and execute a Platform Functional Test that can provide comprehensive design validation of all F5 platforms
To create a predictable, measurable, comprehensive system level test environment that will allow the F5 Hardware Development team to qualify/validate platform design during all development phases while driving to a goal of zero field design issues/bugs.
To develop, release, support F5 Platform End User Diagnostics.
Design and develop test plans and test cases for product releases in coordination with Test Engineers, FW Engineers, SW Engineers, HW Engineers, BIOS Engineers, ASIC Engineers, NPI engineers and Hardware Development program and project leaders.
Track and report on the state of the testing phase and overall product quality during all phases of development and release to manufacturing
Establish a process to provide quantitative measurement of platform quality using defined data and metrics.
Actively participate and review product requirements, goals and specifications
Provide technical leadership to the test engineering teams.
Work with Senior Management in identifying and improving processes.
Participate in continuous self-education in Test Engineering field: Methodologies, tools, test methods
Provide customer focus.
Participate in special projects as assigned.
Occasional travel required

Qualifications
Eight years of progressively responsible system level testing and design validation experience
Three or more years of front line management experience of 5+ testers
Understanding of state of the art design validation / QA processes and tools
Experience with Software System Functional Testing
Experience with Software SQA
Experience with ASIC/FPGA Top Level System Testing
BS/MS degree in computer science, electrical engineering or related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience with state-of-the-art computer architecture and microprocessor based systems architecture
Experience with test automation systems and languages such as C/C++, Perl, Python and/or Ruby
Advanced knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of product development project management
Advanced knowledge of product design validation methodologies
Demonstrated ability to manage teams on complex projects
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple parallel projects with highly variable scopes
Demonstrated leadership and communications skills, both verbal and written communication
Knowledge of Ethernet/Layer2 Networking systems
Knowledge of TCP/IP networking systems
Physical Demands and Work Environment
