Mountain Gear, a high end outdoor gear and clothing retailer is planning to grow their web presence in the coming year with the implementation of a new Java-based ecommerce platform. We are looking for a Java Developer with Apache and Tomcat experience to bring their expertise to the team on a 12 month contract-to-hire basis.

The position will be responsible for assisting in the set up of our new web infrastructure and the transition from a development to a production environment. The position will also participate in the ecommerce project by programming, testing and implementing software code to support the efficient functioning of the new website.

Qualifications include working experience with Apache/Tomcat server deployments, programming experience in core Java, Java Bean, Javascript and AJAX. Experience working with various web technologies including HTML, XML, XHTML, XSLT, CSS and SOAP. Good understanding of Object Oriented Methodologies, J2E and source control tools, SQL Database programming and a strong understanding of internet-based applications and ecommerce site workflow. Experience developing and following design documentation. Must be able to quickly learn new technologies and methods, and have the ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing focus and demanding deadlines.
