JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a primary contact for Safeway customers, the 2nd Assistant Store Manager provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service. During the absence of the Store Manager and the 1st Assistant Store Manager, the 2nd Assistant Store Manager is in charge of the store. The 2nd Assistant Store Manager performs the following duties personally or supervises employees performing these duties: Plans and prepares work schedules and assigns employees to specific duties. Coordinates sales promotion activities and prepares, or directs workers preparing merchandise displays. Supervises employees engaged in sales work, taking of inventories, reconciling cash with sales receipts, keeping operating records, and preparing daily record of transactions. Ensures compliance of employees with established retail policies and procedures, security, sales, and record keeping procedures and practices. Manages safety plans and merchandising plans. Answers customer's complaints or inquiries. May work in other departments of the store. Performs various office and accounting functions. The 2nd Assistant Store Manager position is non-union, non-exempt, and hourly. The schedule is determined by the needs of the store, and can include evenings, weekends, or holidays. This is a full time position. Wage is DOE up to $17.76 per hour.
Qualifications:
Must have prior experience as a grocery clerk, or department management in a retail environment.
