PowerHandling is a designer and manufacturer of compact materials handling devices used in industrial applications world-wide. It is a small but growing company with unique and patented technologies and is the market leader in the niche markets into which it sells. With expanding sales both domestically and internationally and new products to be launched during 2010, we are in need of an experienced mid-level mechanical design engineer to accelerate the process of turning new concepts into designs and transforming those designs to prototypes and ultimately volume manufactured machines.
The appointed candidate would work with two existing mechanical designers and various support staff. He/she would work closely with and report to the owner of the company, who is the chief inventor and conceptual designer. Predominantly the design work would be new product development but some other functions related to existing products (changes, updates etc) and documentation would be involved.
The anticipated growth of the operations will provide an exceptional opportunity for the right candidate with substantial opportunity for career advancement as the group expands.
Competitive base pay plus annual bonuses and pay revisions will be provided to motivate the successful candidate providing superior income earning potential. Skills/Experience Required & Responsibilities Entailed
o Should possess a creative, problem solving mind and able to work effectively within a small team of designers and drafters.
o Experience in use of Autodesk “Inventor” 3D design software highly preferred, with experience in Solidworks also an advantage.
o Able to build 3D models of equip. according to direction but already well versed with mechanical tolerances, basic drive components, assemblies etc
o Experience in designing machinery (electro-mechanical) a basic minimum requirement with experience in mechanical drive assemblies, control units, gearboxes, electric motors, controllers, battery technologies and injection molded and/or die cast aluminum parts a distinct advantage.
o Able to work hands-on with production techÂ’s to build the physical prototypes of new machines.
o Research and specify components and manufacturers during the design process and also create bill of materials documents on all products designed.
o Generate timelines and scheduling estimates for assigned tasks and adhere to documentation and release procedures. Location: Spokane, WA
