AMX Corp. AutoPatch Division is seeking a motivated, experienced, and knowledgeable PCB Designer to join our growing Printed Circuit Board Design Team. We currently have one opening for PCB Designer II.
AMX AutoPatch is an industry leader in the Pro Audio/Video, Government, and Medical markets where we provide a full range of high performance Audio, Video, and Data Signal Routing and Distribution products. WeÂ’ve been designing and manufacturing high performance signal distribution equipment for nearly two decades. With products currently installed in thousands of facilities worldwide, AMX AutoPatch is a trusted cornerstone in a variety of installations including hotel, entertainment, commercial, residential, military and medical applications.

The PCB Designer II generates printed circuit board designs focusing on layout and routing of mixed signals and high-speed circuits as well as assembly documentation. Schematic entry and component generation are also required as main functions of the job. The software tools used for these duties are Altium Designer, PCAD and Cadence Auto-Router (Specctra). The candidate will interface with the PCB Design Manager, PCB Designers, Engineering Services Manager, Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and Engineering Technicians.
The job requires a BS or AAS in Electronics or Engineering related field or equivalent experience; at least 5 years of experience with layout and routing PCBs; complete understanding of PCB design and associated responsibilities; ability to read and understand schematics; and a solid understanding of electronics; and proficiency with MS Windows/ MS Office software for work and collaboration.
Preferred experience includes generating components for CAD library; proficiency with Altium Designer EDA software; proficiency with PCAD 2006 EDA Software; experience with Specctra/Allegro Autorouter; experience working with PCB fabricators and assemblers; and experience checking/verifying PCB designs.
Projects incorporate a wide range of technologies and requirements, including: – Heavy copper power supply sub-systems requiring delivery of anywhere from 1 to 280 Amps. – Uniquely shielded Analog Audio and Video switching boards. – Processor and CPU board designs. – Signal conversion and processing designs including the use of advanced DSP circuits. – Fiber Optic transmission. – High speed single ended and differential digital designs. – PCBÂ’s that range from 2 layer analog and power circuits up to 24 layer multi-gigabit switching mid-backplane designs.
