Analytical Chemist (Spokane, WA) Full-time

Honeywell Electronic Materials in Spokane, WA has an opening for an Analytical Chemist. "This position affords the opportunity to work with unique analytical instrumentation to test and study high purity materials in support of a dynamic materials science business."
Job Responsibilities:
• Prepare samples and analyze main constituents using Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (FAA)
• Perform trace element analysis by Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometry (GDMS) or Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES)
• Follow standard operating procedures to insure consistent analyses
• Follow safety procedures, including the use of common sense to ensure safe handling of hazardous materials
• Critique existing analytical methods and procedures and develop new ones as needed
• Insure high quality analyses, including best possible accuracy and shortest possible turnaround times
• Prepare and present data to internal customer
• Trouble shoot instrument failures and perform preventative maintenance as required
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :
• Bachelors degree in chemistry
• 4 Years chemistry lab experience
• 4 Years instrumental analysis
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• The ability to work effectively with others and demonstrate a positive teamwork approach
• A high level of independent judgment, discretion and problem solving skills
• Self-motivated
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and schedule activities to meet deadlines
• Adaptable and flexible to changing work environment and priorities while maintaining productivity/through-put requirements
• ICP-OES experience or equivalent
• Inorganic mass spectrometry experience
• Six Sigma training or certification
