RightNow is looking for a rock star software engineer to join its Social Solutions team in Boulder, Colorado. RightNow is a leading SaaS provider of Customer Experience solutions to hundreds of companies, including MySpace, Zynga, Sony, Logitech, Electronic Arts, Kodak, Black & Decker, Ben & Jerry’s and many more.
Social Solutions team runs Scrum, closely adhering to automated testing practices. The team believes in choosing the right language for the job, it has often been PHP, but others are used as needed. The team does 20 percent time projects (as popularized by Google) to foster innovation. Our applications sustain considerable scale so engineering for high performance is a priority.
This position is located in Boulder, CO, a fantastic place to live and raise a family. It has a vibrant tech scene while supporting a balanced and active lifestyle. Our offices are downtown, walking distance from restaurants and shops, close to awesome hiking and biking trails, great rock climbing and ski areas. We will relocate the right candidate if needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities *Effectively design and develop high-performance web applications and supporting systems *Collaborate with teammates in an open, collaborative Agile environment *Think out of the box and solve challenging problems as part of creating novel customer experience solutions
Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Background *Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or similar field *5+ years industry experience developing customer-facing systems *Experience with scalable high-performance web applications
—Caching strategies, execution optimization, relational query tuning, key-based non-relational data stores, delayed write strategies, asynchronous message queuing *Agile experience, especially:
—Iterative development, shippable results each sprint, etc
—Unit and integration testing, continuous integration / daily builds *Object-oriented programming experience in the industry, preferably Java or C++ *Extensive experience in the LAMP solution stack, specifically:
—Object-oriented PHP5, plus frameworks like Zend or Cake
—Development and deployment experience on Unix (Linux or otherwise)
—Experience working with databases, MySQL preferred ? schema design, comfortable with SQL *Familiar with front-end web technologies: JS, CSS, AJAX, etc *Experience with web services and APIs: REST, XML-RPC, SOAP
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Background *Industry experience in the fields of online communities, customer support forums
