Credit Manager Responsibilities
Responsible for evaluation of potential and existing customers; the collection of debt owed to the Company. This evaluation and collection is a key role in ensuring the continuous growth and expansion of the companyÂ’s goals and aspiration as they are set forth.
1. Establish, maintain, and communicate company policy and procedures are in place and followed.
2. Build and maintain effective relationships with departments, employees, and managers.
3. Determine credit risk of potential and existing customers.
4. Approve or deny credit application applicant(s) based on their credit risk.
5. Notify and/or locate customers with delinquent accounts and attempt to secure payment.
6. Interview customers in attempt to determine reason for overdue payment, reviewing terms of sales, service, or contract with customer.
7. Direct investigations to determine appropriate course with all departments regarding disputes, questions, challenges, to achieve a resolution based on policies and procedures are followed.
8. Maintain records of conversations regarding customerÂ’s financial status and collection efforts.
9. Review, manage, and follow up with legal issues involving customers and all contracts.
10. Evaluate and analyze customer records and recommend that accounts be closed, credit limit reduced or extended, or collection attempted, based on payment history and purchase activity of customer.
11. Prepare reports on current findings and action taken for all account under investigation.
12. Supervise staff membersÂ’ activities to ensure customersÂ’ accounts are consistently and accurately maintained.
13. Perform Cost and Benefits analysis of Third Party Vendors; Credit Reporting, Credit Card Processing, and Collection Agencies, etc.
14. Research and evaluate new systems that would benefit the credit and collection department.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors Degree (B.A., B.S.) or equivalent college or technical school; or five year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Able to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference and financial analysis. Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Proficient in the use of programs such as Word, Excel, and Power Point. Able to set up, enter data, and maintain data base information.
