Mechanic Job Description
Mechanics perform routine, preventative maintenance and repair of excavation equipment, lift equipment, other equipment and vehicles in the shop and on jobsites. Mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic and electrical systems are involved. Mechanics assure that equipment operates effectively, efficiently and safely.
Duties will also include occasional delivery of equipment; providing instructing or familiarizing customers with equipment and vehicles; providing safety inspection of equipment and vehicles; maintaining organization of shop and yard with other mechanics; communicating effectively with customers and other staff.
Characteristics and Qualities Needed

Ability to communicate, collaborate and interact with other staff in a cooperative, positive, professional manner
A thorough, detailed and calm approach to problem-solving in relationship to equipment and customers
Ability to work independently, problem-solve and make sound business decisions with limited direct supervision
An attitude of flexibility – the willingness to serve in whatever capacity is needed
Ability to manage problems and occasional confrontation
Willingness to follow all safety guidelines and rules
Qualifications
Experience with maintenance and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic and electrical systems
Clean driving record and be willing to submit to random drug testing
Class A commercial driverÂ’s license or the willingness to obtain a commercial driverÂ’s license
Willingness to serve on-call weekends on a rotating basis with the other mechanics
Ability to supply tools necessary for the job
Compensation
Hourly rate will depend on experience and qualifications
