Technical Writer (Valley, WA 99181) Full-time

DUTIES: The Technical Writer collects information and data which will be distilled into useful and effective written communications to be delivered in a variety of formats for the Valley School District and CVA member districts. The Technical Writer essential duties will include creating and maintaining documents, forms, manuals and web-based content; conducting research as necessary for collection of data; and compiling data to prepare policies, procedures, training manuals and other documents as directed. This position will work with Communications and IT staff to create and publish web-based forms, as well as collaborate with other district writers to create press releases, articles, and other materials as assigned. The Technical Writer will work with Operations staff to catalog and store documents created by all staff as directed by the superintendent and according to the Washington State Records Retention Guide.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma or GED certification. A BachelorÂ’s Degree in a related field is preferred. Candidate must have a proven technical writing ability with examples of successful writing projects, both printed and web-based. This position requires a logical thinker and analytical mind with an excellent ability to collaborate with others. Candidate must have superior attention to detail and accuracy, as well as computer expertise with experience in creating and revising web-based forms, or willingness to obtain such expertise. The ability to work well with Communications and IT staff in the design, development, and launching of web-based forms is necessary.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: This will be a full-time (8 hours per day), year-round position. The Technical Writer will be eligible for benefits and retirement. Placement on the salary schedule will be determined by education and qualified experience.
WORK SETTING: This position is located in the Valley School District office and reports to the Communications Manager
