Part Time Teller - Numerica Credit Union (Spokane)

SUMMARY:
Responsible for processing a wide variety of member transactions, while consistently referring members for other financial services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Contributes to the organization's mission statement and goals by providing the highest quality of service, treating each person professionally - with warmth, courtesy and respect, cross-selling additional services, and making a personal effort to make members feel they belong and are important to the credit union.
• Maintains knowledge and adheres to all compliance standards on internal and external policies and BSA regulations.
• Welcomes members, understands their needs, and processes a wide variety of transactions including:
• Processes deposit share, share draft, and other savings accounts,
• Disburses cash or check withdrawals,
• Provides travelers cheques, money orders, Visa cash advances and Postage stamps,
• Processes Treasury Tax & Loan payments and safe deposit box rentals,
• Purchases Canadian Currency at discounted amount,
• Processes loan payments and escrow payments,
• Process transfers between accounts as required,
• Redeems, sells and exchanges US Savings Bonds.
• Opens, operates and closes Teller computer terminal daily. Accounts for cash assigned and disbursed. Balances to teller terminal in accordance with credit union balancing standards. Expected to reach a competency level sufficient to process 60 transactions per hour an average when called upon (although actual volumes vary) with no more than 1 posting error per month.
• Refers members for other Numerica financial services to ensure member satisfaction and consistently meets closed sales goals. Assists member service promotion efforts.
• Understands and follows Numerica's security procedures.
• Studies manuals and marketing materials to maintain knowledge of credit union products and services.
• Understands and passes testing on applicable regulatory compliance.
• Ability to quote rates including annual percentage yield.
• Performs such other duties as assigned including, but not limited to: check encoding, processing check orders, ATM balancing, address changes, filing, answering telephone, processing mail and night deposits, and occasional working at other branches or departments.
• Operates personal computer terminal to accurately post transactions, access account information, balance transactions and generally update member account transactions and information.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No requirement.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
The ability to handle cash transactions quickly and accurately. Must present oneself in a positive, professional, cooperative manner toward members and fellow employees with sound interpersonal skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus 6 months to 12 months related experience and/or training as a teller, customer service with cash handling or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred: Relevant training in a credit union, bank or other financial institution.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Should effectively present information in one-on-one situations to members, potential members and other employees of the credit union.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
Courtesy, tact and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with other inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information, which may require some discussion.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
No requirement.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to operate general office machines and equipment such as photocopier, fax, adding machine, computer, check encoding machine and currency and coin counter. Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals Location: Spokane
Compensation: 10.60 per hour
