Legal

The Legal Team handles all legal matters for Ecova. As a department, we strive to support our internal clients and facilitate business by providing creative solutions to complex legal matters. Our goal is to work proactively to address legal issues in their infancy, before they become legal problems.



Role Description

 Prepares, reviews, negotiates and administers complex vendor and client contracts and agreements to ensure legal compliance and alignment with company objectives/initiatives.

 Researches and advises with regard to regulatory requirements and filings for domestic and international entities.

 Researches, develops and advises Corporate Counsel and General Counsel regarding company policy and position on legal issues.

 Conducts and coordinates research into a variety of legal issues.

 Writes, reviews, and edits reports, opinions, correspondence, articles, and other documents.

 Researches, develops and advises Corporate Counsel and General Counsel regarding operating policy and procedural improvements.

 Ensures accurate and timely file maintenance.

 Undertakes specific assignments as directed by Corporate Counsel and General Counsel.

 Anticipates and works to mitigate legal risks facing the company.

 Performs related work as required.



Role Competencies

 Knowledge of contract law concepts.

 Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Sharepoint and Westlaw.

 Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

 Ability to efficiently analyze applicable law and provide succinct recommendations based on real world situations.

 Proven negotiation, drafting and analytical skills, including experience working with sophisticated, nationally recognized parties.

 Ability to work both independently and with a diverse set of personalities in a collaborative and cross-functional environment.

 Proven track record of learning quickly, taking initiative, working proactively, being resourceful and taking on additional responsibility.

 Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor from an accredited law school required.

 At least 2 years of transactional law experience strongly preferred.

 Requires membership in the State Bar as an attorney qualified to practice law in Washington.
