The IS Security Specialists principal responsibility is dedication and execution in protecting Expeditors electronic information at rest as well as in transit. This position calls for an individual who is self-motivated, excited about technology use, has ability to deliver manageable high quality solutions to complex problems, understand business requirements and meet deadlines. Any candidate must be organized, capable, excited and curious.



The IS Security Specialist duties and responsibilities include:



- Developing and deploying of new security related products and technologies

- Providing efficiency improvements to business processes without increasing risk

- Completing projects on time and on budget

- Creating detailed support documentation for technology solutions

- Improving efficiencies and automation of existing systems and processes

- Complete daily operational tasks consistently and accurately

- Possess highly effective oral, written and communication skills

- Stay current with governmental and industry organizations providing security alerts, security laws and regulations, and security tool information



The desired technical skill sets of the IS Security Specialist are as follows:



- Cisco IOS/NX-OS, network protocols, packet inspection and the OSI model

- Windows 2003/2008, Solaris and Linux operating systems

- Application development and security

- SSL VPN technologies

- PKI infrastructure management

- Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle

- Full disk encryption, file encryption and encrypted communication technologies

- Solid knowledge of security strategies and solutions for securing mobile technologies

- Exceptional problem solving, research and evaluation capabilities

- Strong technology aptitude and capacity to learn new ideas

- Firewalls, intrusion, detection/prevention systems

- Application and system penetration and vulnerability testing

- Operating system hardening processes

- Auditing compliance (SOX)

- Database Security

- Antivirus, spyware and malware prevention, detection and dissection

- Scripting skills (Perl, Bash, PowerShell, JavaScript and/or Python). Programming languages a plus.

- Ability to take a balanced approach to producing risk and threat analysis by analyzing complex systems and system interactions. This includes a strong comprehension of security risk management, threat modeling, and controls assessment

- Provide detailed remediation plans and execute on them

- Provide technical leadership in design and administration for Expeditors information security systems

- Understand best practices and understand threats, vulnerably and risks.

- Strong customer service skills which includes taking ownership of customer requests and working to resolution with a strong sense of urgency.

- Understand how security needs to change to align with the business, more than how the business needs to change to align with security

- Ability to recognize and embrace change as the external environment and organization evolves and proactively and creatively address security in new technologies and solutions

- Working effectively and efficiently both individually as well as within a team

- Ability to communicate technical concepts at all levels of an organization from end-user to senior management.

- Ability to translate business requirements into functional/technical specifications
