Senior Accountant (Spokane Valley, WA) Full-time

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Contributes to the organizations mission statement and goals by providing the highest quality of service, treating each person professionally, with warmth, courtesy and respect, cross-selling additional services, and making a personal effort to make members feel they belong and are important to Numerica.

• Maintains knowledge and adheres to all BSA regulations and compliance standards on internal and external policies.

• Responsible for maintaining accurate records for all corporate accounting records. Maintains general ledger including daily, monthly and annual adjustments.

• Responsible for accurately preparing quarterly worker's comp and quarterly wage detail report. Pay life, disability and health insurance premiums.

• Prepare the annual Form 990 for submission and completion to external auditor.

• Assist in reviewing final annual external audit financial statements and footnotes and act as audit liaison for the external audit.

• Assist in the month end close process to ensure all journal entries are posted on day 1.

• Cross train to balance and post all Dealer Center origination fee exceptions.

• Compiles financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as the general ledger accounts and documenting business transactions.

• Coordinates balancing, reconciling of bank accounts and ACH transactions including bank accounts, Corporate, Federal Reserve, and other banking links the credit union utilizes.

• Cross train to prepare monthly board reports and other reports as needed and requested.

• Responsible for the posting of investment income and other credit union receivables.

• Ability to back up Financial Analysts in all of their duties when needed.

• Ensures that all general ledger entries and financial format is accurate.

• Assists in annual Raddon survey information.

• Assists in the preparation of the annual budget.

• Performs other duties as assigned.



PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

Must meet all prescribed accounting schedules and standards for reports. Data submitted must be accurate, all accounts balanced and bank reconciliation's performed on a timely basis.



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

CPA designation preferred. Four year degree in Finance or Accounting, plus two years' related experience and/or training in a financial institution; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to members, management and other employees of the organization.



INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

Courtesy, tact and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion.



CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

CPA or MBA designation preferred but not required.



OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.



Ability to operate a personal computer. Financial management/analysis programs as might be specified from time to time. Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel, building formulas and pivoting of tables.
