Agency Web Developer (Spokane)
at in Spokane (Published at 14-01-2012)
A local creative firm is looking for a web developer to join their team. A large portion of the position consists of doing front-end development: taking a design from a Photoshop or Illustrator file and making it a live, functioning website. Other duties include maintaining our server, maintaining clients' email, some back-end development, and any other technical tasks that may arise.
Requirements:
Expert understanding of CSS and HTML and making websites that won't break in any support browser. We support Safari 4+, IE7+, FF3+ and Chrome.
Knowledge or Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, at least enough to slice images for use for web.
Familiarity with WHM/cPanel servers on Linux (CentOS to be precise).
Ability to work well with web designers.
Willingness to learn, and an aptitude to take on any task that may be thrown at you.
At least one year experience with PHP.
Problem solving skills.
This is a very quick-paced job, and you need to be able to adapt quickly. Your responsibilities are widespread, and you have to be open minded and meet every task head on.
Not strictly required, but strongly desired:
Familiarity creating websites around a Content Management System (CMS) [especially concrete5].
Ability to do more with Photoshop/Illustrator than just slicing. The more you can do, the better. If you can tweak a design without having to send it back to the designer, a lot of time can be saved.
PHP, jQuery, MySQL, and while it may not come up a lot, an understanding of AJAX is valuable. Our CMS is programmed in this environment, and you will be making edits and extensions to the CMS to fit the clients needs. The more you know about these things, the better.
Linux command shell. The better you can traverse the server, the better.
Macs. We use Macs here, and while not necessary, it'd be great if you had an affinity for Macs.
Please submit your resume and samples of related work you've done. At a minimum, please provide us with links to websites you've programmed, and which CMS they are built on, if any.
A cover letter (not too long) explaining why you think you'd be a good candidate.
Preferred programming environment. What kind of system do you typically use, and what programs (text editor, FTP program, etc) you use when you program. Remember, we use Macs here.
We look forward to chatting with you!
