Job Description: Process Engineer

Dept: Production

Supervisor's Title: Plant Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Schedule: Full Time

Shift: M-F



General Summary



The Process Engineer is responsible for ensuring the Imperium Grays Harbor plant operates at optimum levels for production of Biodiesel and co-products by applying principles and technology of chemistry, physics, and engineering. May be required to work irregular hours as necessary to maintain the continuous operation of the facility.



Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



• Work directly with production, laboratory, and maintenance staff on a daily basis to maintain production levels and improve operations in the plant.

• Ensure processes work at optimum levels, to the right rate and quality of output, in order to meet supply needs.

• Make observations and take measurements directly, as well as collecting and interpreting data from the other technical and operating staff involved.

• Assist in technology development and implementation.

• Develop new designs and techniques to improve plant operations and processes.

• Assume responsibility for environmental monitoring and ongoing performance of processes and process plant.

• Actively develop and recommend new process improvements and new technologies to achieve cost effectiveness and improve product quality.

• Assist production staff with problem solving and troubleshooting when process or equipment difficulties arise.

• Responsible for improving safety conditions of complex systems or processes, for reducing waste, and for support of environmental compliance.

• Works as directed by the Plant Manager.



Education, Experience, And Requirements



• BS degree in Chemical Engineering, or related field required.

• Process Engineering or Process Controls experience desired. Performance at this level assumes an in-depth knowledge of process chemistry as well as engineering techniques sufficient to show independent design capability.

• Must be 18 years of age and required to obtain Transportation Workers Identification Credential Card upon hire.



Working Conditions



This position works primarily outside in a biofuels refinery which is exposed to inclement weather. This position is required to:

• Climb stairs or ladders up to 70 feet to accomplish objectives on facility structures.

• Lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds occasionally.

• Work with hazardous chemicals.
