Part-Time Summer ESL Teacher (3 Weeks) (Liberty Lake, WA)

Part-time English as a Second Language Teacher: If you would like to experience a short-term (3 weeks- July 21-Aug.10) summer teaching position focusing on teaching English skills to Japanese students, then this position is for you!
Compass USA is an organization of people that live in communities throughout the United States who promote intercultural understanding by facilitating homestay programs. Our main objective is to meet the needs and concerns of our host families and our visitors from overseas.
Minimum Requirements: Washington or Idaho State teaching certificate with an English as a Second Language endorsement.
Our Summer Program High School Students from Japan will reside in your community with volunteer host families for 2 and 3 weeks in July. English as a Second Language Teacher will be responsible for the following:
a. To become acquainted with the Compass USA homestay program, its objectives, and to attend the scheduled Compass USA planning meetings in the Service Provider's region.
b. To assume responsibility for the academic portion of the Compass USA homestay program including planning, creating and facilitating lesson plans, lesson modules, and making arrangements for guest speakers and class related activities.
c. To provide the materials and lessons necessary to teach ESL and conversation skills to the visiting group of foreign students for a minimum of twelve (12) class hours per week
d. To cooperate with the Program Coordinator in accomplishing the objectives for a successful program and to help the students prepare for all activities and excursions as scheduled by the Program Coordinator.
e. If requested, to assist with the hiring, training, and supervision of conversation pals.
f. To assist with host family orientation, student orientation and the farewell party.
g. To complete and submit to the Denver office the standard lesson plan form and lesson modules four weeks prior to the students arrival.
PAY: Pay is per program. Total pay ranges from $1000 to $1500 per group. Pay is based on 1. Compensation for participation in the teacher training session and submission of lesson plans and lesson modules prior to student's arrival; and 2. Payment for teaching, assistance at the orientation meetings and farewell party, and (if applicable) an experience payment for previous service as an ESL Program Teacher on a Compass USA homestay program.
