DESCRIPTION:
Family Home Care, the largest Home Health Agency in Spokane County, has an opening on our team for a full-time billing specialist at our Spokane Branch.
The primary duty will be to assisting in work with billing runs for Family Home Care services accurately and on time. This begins with a careful audit process to ensure that each billable case has all its necessary components and has been put together accurately prior to billing. The billing process must follow very specific rules and regulations from Medicare that changes frequently. By using accounting procedures and methods, the billing specialist needs to be able to conduct adjustments as needed. The Billing specialist will conduct billing activities with a variety of payers including Medicare/Medicaid, various insurance companies, each with their own rules on how the billing process takes place, which may include private payers. To expedite and ensure timely receivables, the billing specialist must be able to use multitasking skills and "think outside the box" to ensure accurate billing runs. This includes responsibility to work and manage aging of receivables to help the department achieve its goals for timely payment.
This position is supervised by a billing and accounts receivable supervisor. The Billing specialist must be able work independently as well as part of a larger team made up of other billers, accounting and finance staff.
Anticipated Schedule will be Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: High school diploma required (AA preferred)
EXPERIENCE: Home Health experience and knowledge of home health regulations is preferred. A minimum of five years medical billing experience. Experience with billing Medicare or specific Home Health or Hospice experience a plus. Must have excellent 10-key by touch skills and has a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
ATTRIBUTES: Must have excellent communication and prioritization skills. Must be able to multi-task and work effectively in a fast paced high energy environment. Must be accurate and attention detailed. Must have knowledge of accounting and mathematics. Must be able to work independently as well as with other accounting and finance employees as part of a larger team.
BACKGROUND CHECK: Must be able to pass a complete background check which includes: Criminal History, EPLS exclusion, APS exclusion, OIG exclusion, Sex-offender registry, and a credit check (does not check FICA score) to verify financial responsibility to handle Family Home Care financials.
COMPENSATION:
