JOB DESCRIPTION



This position is responsible for teaching the Nursing Assistant (CNA) course at North Idaho College Workforce Training Center. The CNA course consists of 120 hours of instruction, generally taught 12 hours per week (4 hours, 3 days per week) over 10 weeks. Curriculum includes theory, lab and clinical experiences. Courses are offered morning, afternoon, evenings, both live and online. Instructors may share a course and teach theory or lab/clinical sections.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list includes but is not limited to the following:

 Prepare a lesson plan for each class according to curriculum standards provided by the state of Idaho.

 Follow established requirements for the course.

 Keep accurate class records, including attendance and grades.

 Coordinate with local facilities to provide clinical experiences.

 Coordinate student paperwork according to facility requirements for clinicals.

 Prepare and returns class records to Center in timely manner.

 Attend Advisory Board meetings or meetings with agencies related to course requirements.

 Develop an understanding of and maintain a commitment to the mission of the community college.

 Maintain a positive, helpful, constructive attitude and work relationship with supervisor, college staff, fellow instructors, students, and the community.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

The following requirements are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for an individual to satisfactorily perform each essential duty and be successful in the position. Education/Experience

 Current, unencumbered license to practice as a Professional Nurse in Idaho.

 Evidence of three (3) years experience working as a professional nurse.

 Evidence of two (2) years experience in caring for the elderly or chronically ill of any age.

 Evidence of completion of a course of methods of instruction or a train-the-trainer type program (can be completed after hire).

 Expertise in subject area, ability to present ideas and information in a clear, organized fashion in group setting.

 Previous teaching, group presentation, or leadership experience strongly desired. Indicate any experience teaching in an online environment.



Supervisory Responsibilities

None assigned.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents and manuals, such as safety rules and manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy and procedure manuals. Ability to write original instructions, reports, and other routine correspondence and memorandums. Ability to effectively present and speak one-on-one and in small group situations. Ability to read, write and speak in English.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions from broadly defined situations requiring inferential reasoning. Ability to interpret, speculate or design future outcomes and conditions from known and unknown facts, using qualitative and quantitative analysis and present those in graph or diagram form. Ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables, address situations, problems and challenges and formulate solutions.

Computer and Equipment Skills

Some positions may require the to use a personal computer and associated peripherals and use current versions of Microsoft Windows and Office and the Internet at a basic level.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk and occasionally sit and use fingers and hands to keyboard or type and handle materials as well as occasionally lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
