Position Summary
We are looking for a superstar Sr. System Test Engineer (SDET) to help us expand our dynamic team. We are seeking passionate, quality-minded individuals with "can do" attitudes to be part of a team that helps drive the feature set and quality of Leading Edge Network Platforms. In the role, you will have the opportunity to work with talented architects, hardware development engineers, software engineers and manufacturing partners to validate, promote and improve the overall quality of F5 platforms. This role will provide you the with the opportunity to work closely with developers to investigate and root cause ship stoppers, as well as own and drive all test related aspects of testing and debugging networking equipment from the initial prototype through the later production phases. We are looking for an innovative software test engineer who is savvy at developing manual and automated test cases and expanding custom test tools.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrated proficiency in designing robust and scalable automated and manual test cases to ensure maximum test coverage for the platform under test.
- Ability to define and design the test strategy and plan best suited for a given platform or product.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both within a team and cross-group to drive identification and resolution of issues efficiently.
- The ability to utilize your strong software design, analysis and programming skills to develop innovative automated test cases and tools to ensure maximum test coverage.
- A deep understanding of the quality life cycle to include: test planning, test case definition, test case development, test execution, defect analysis and reporting.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of software development process, demonstrated proficiency in designing test cases and contributing to effective test planning.
- The ability to think strategically in the development of test plans and test strategies and the ability to be tactical in the creation and execution of test cases.
- Proficiency in the execution of automated and manual tests on hardware at each stage of the prototype phases and strong analytical skills that can determine root cause when a failure occurs.
- Ability to effectively communicate with other engineers in a positive and collaborative method.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in computer/engineering related field or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of PC Architecture (able to understand block diagrams) is a plus.
- Demonstrate software development or test experience throughout the full ship cycle.
- Embedded software development experience is a plus.
- A minimum of 5 years software development experience.
- Experience in using test frameworks, designing and implementing automated tests is an advantage
- Experience in software testing with an emphasis on test automation.
- Strong skills in test planning, debugging, defect reporting and triage.
- Interest and experience in software development processes (agile development experience is a plus).
- At least 3 years of SDE/SDET experience.
- Demonstrated software development experience using at least one development language (C,C++, .NET Python).
- Experience with TCP/IP networking and Unix based operating systems required.
- Linux development experience (kboot, syslinux, tftp)
- L2 Networking knowledge (MAC's, VLANs) is a plus.
- Experience with Network switches is a plus.
- Experience interfacing with hardware at a low level is strongly desired in this role (device drivers, embedded systems, C programming).
- Creative and innovative problem-solving skills. Solid data analysis abilities.
- Knowledge and expertise in software engineering methodologies and effective unit testing.
- Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Daily computer use in an office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table. Duties require the ability to utilize a computer keyboard, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
