The Role:



The Software Development Manager applies solid project management, leadership skills and development experience to deliver projects on-time, within budget, and with high customer satisfaction. We are currently expanding a dynamic ecommerce platform to utilize cloud services in order to support the rapid deployment of new products. Part of this initiative is the development of mobile applications on the iPhone, Android, and Windows Phone platforms. The role presents an opportunity, for the right candidate, to help design and build the next generation of this system.

To be credible he or she must have current and deep experience with managing technology projects through all phases of a solution's or application's lifecycle, with demonstrated expertise and proven abilities in risk management and mitigation, and delivering projects on time and in budget. The role requires the manager to work onsite with a team of four software developers and perform database administration duties.



Responsibilities:



Software Development Manager is responsible for:

v Working closely with the Product Owner on release planning, product delivery and continuous Product improvements.

v Building the Release Plan and delivering against the Release Plan

v Leading a team of software engineers responsible for architecture, engineering and software development

v Improving and developing team processes and engineering practices

v Web Application Development

Ø ASP.NET, C#, VB.Net (preferred), Ajax, Framework 3.5 (4.0 a plus)

Ø IIS and Apache TomCat Support

Ø Windows Service experience a plus

v Database Design/Support/Administration

Ø Stored Procedures, view, maintenance and support

Ø DTS/SQL Server Integration Services for data migrations

Ø Microsoft SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008 (a plus)



Qualifications:



v 5+ years direct software engineering experience

v 3+ years' experience managing small development teams in web and/or database application development

v Proven project management, analytical thinking, skills and experience

v Strong communications skills, ability to present ideas and challenges to all levels of management in ways that promote collaboration

v Must be open to implementing the best possible development process for team

v Comfortable in a fast--paced environment

v Strong background in both Java and .Net developing web services and web applications

v Good working knowledge of security best practices on system design

v Strong knowledge of software development methodologies and practices

v Experience with Agile methodologies is a big plus

v Database Experience with SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008 (a plus); administration, performance tuning and re--architecture

v Experience with database design, querying, stored procedures, views, joins, performance etc.

v 5+ years of experience in VB.NET, ASP.NET, C#, Ajax, XML/XSLT/XPATH, ADO.NET, JAVA, Tomcat, Object oriented programming

v Experience with J2EE, XML, JDBC, JMX, RMI and Web UI frameworks and application servers is a strong plus.

v Experience with web services. (experience with Windows services is a plus)

v Experience with Visual Studio 2005 and/or 2008

v Experience with Source Control -- VSS/TFS/SVN
