ABOUT THE POSITION

OpenEye is looking for a full time TECHNICAL WRITER to create a wide range of user-friendly, customer-focused technical documentation for the security industry. Documentation will include user manuals, software Help files, technical documentation and other related items. The position provides opportunities to learn new technologies and grow with the company. OpenEye prides itself on what we call Heroic Customer Service -- our ability to provide knowledgeable, friendly and professional service.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create installation, setup, and user manuals for security products.

  • Generate Help files for software applications.

  • Work with Development, Test Engineering, Customer Support, and Marketing departments to gather information about new products and features to be documented.

  • Update existing documentation where necessary.

  • Generate/update other related documentation.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Excellent communication skills demonstrated through writing experience.

  • Must be able to work independently or in team environment.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Adapt positively to a changing environment.

  • Ability/desire to learn new programs as necessary.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Creative Suite.


PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Technical background (hardware and/or software).

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Journalism or related field. Concentration or minor in computer science or other technology-related area a plus.

  • Experience writing user manuals, marketing copy, specifications, and professional letters desirable.

  • Thorough understanding of networks and network technology.

  • Experience generating Help files.

  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator.

  • CCTV background/experience.
