Service Coordinator - full time (Spokane) Full-time

The Salvation Army Spokane Corps is accepting applications for a full time (32 hours/week) Service Coordinator with our Social Services Program. This position is a liaison that links residents to necessary services to enable independent living, provide counseling, coordinate on-site workshops and classes to enhance resident wellness, and provide empowerment by encouraging resident support networks in the form of association meetings, block watch and community social activities. Minimum Qualifications:

Hold a Masters Degree in social work, psychology, or counseling.

Have experience providing counseling or therapy and/or be a Certified Counselor or Advisor with the State of Washington.

Be able to pass a criminal background check.

Be capable of observing and communicating with disabled and elderly adults.

Have effective oral and written communication and documentation skills.

Be capable of scheduling and reporting.

Be flexible with scheduling and sharing of space.



Other Requirements:

CPR/First Aid training.

Blood borne pathogen training.

De-escalation training.

Negative TB test.

The Salvation Army Child Safety training.

The Salvation Army Driver's Fleet Safety training.

Valid Washington State Driver's License.



Areas of Responsibility:

Assist residents to maintain living independently.

Facilitate monthly resident meetings and resident association in coordination with the Property Manager.

Provide counseling, therapy or treatment services using recognized techniques to assist residents in the amelioration or adjustment of mental, emotional, or behavioral problems. Make appropriate referrals for those qualifying for community services or needing additional services.

Provide life skills trainings through teaching classes and through service partners.

Provide employment skills training and assistance with employment search. Network with community services to provide services on site.

Organize social activities, primarily cooking and nutrition classes and shared meals in the community room. Rejuvenate the community vegetable garden and food pantry.

Organize and facilitate services by service partners that offered matching grant services for the HUD grant.

Seek services that meet specific needs for the residents including: wellness, exercise, cooking, computer literacy classes, and nursing students from a local school for in-home care and examinations.

Maintain confidentiality.

Follow all ethical codes and guidelines for providing professional services.

Attend and participate in trainings held by Aging Services of Washington and Aging and Long Term Care Eastern Washington Chapter meetings regularly.

Attend meetings and trainings as directed.

Work toward meeting and exceeding outcomes in the HUD Multifamily Housing Service Coordinator grant.

Provide written reports and billings at least monthly.

Work closely with the Spokane Housing Authority staff.

Participate in annual Quality Assurance and surveys.

Maintain logs and session notes on all clients.

Maintain information for statistics and reports.

Maintain files, reports, and supplies.

Additional duties as assigned.



Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.

Ability to grasp, push, pull, objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, carts, doors, and reach overhead.

Ability to operate a telephone.

Ability to operate a desktop computer.

Ability to access and produce information from a computer.

Ability to understand written information.

Ability to lift up to 30lbs on a regular basis.

Ability to sweep, clean, shovel snow, and perform other janitorial tasks as needed.
