Title: Research Associate
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Start Date: January 4, 2010
This position is in the Genomics Core Lab at Washington State University Pullman campus and supports the operation and maintenance of the newly acquired 454 GS Titanium instrument. This position is temporary and carries no tenure implications.
Position Summary: The position will require extensive interaction with campus-wide faculty and the candidate is expected to enable genomics projects utilizing next generation sequencing. Interactions with investigators and the activities on the job will encompass all aspects of experimental design, library preparation, DNA sequencing, nominal data handling and delivery. The candidate may also be involved in other aspects of genomics core lab that hosts an ABI 3730 DNA Analyzer and an Affymetrix microarray platform. The candidate will closely work with the Scientific Coordinator and the Core Director to execute a business plan to make the facility financially sustainable.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicant should hold at least a MS in life sciences with a minimum of 2+ years of experience or preferably a Ph D. in molecular biology or related life sciences discipline.
Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have documented and extensive training in the area of molecular biology and genomics. Preference will be given to candidates with excellent communication skills and next generation sequencing experience. Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies.
