Product Manager
Our client manufactures equipment for the telecom industry and they''re looking to fill two Product Manager positions. Relocation benefits available for qualified candidates. Competitive salary, including bonus program and excellent benefits.
Summary:
Uses high degree of technical competence and project management experience to manage new and existing products thru all phases of the product life cycle. Defines product requirements that meet market needs and ensures that profitable products get created, tested, and shipped on time.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Manages products through life cycle, from strategic planning, tactical execution to end-of-life.
2. Develops market requirements and maintains feature requirements for current and future products by conducting market research, product analyses, industry/competitive trends analyses, and on-going visits to customers, prospects and partners.
3. Owns maintenance of cost pricing margin matrix and actively drives material and labor COGS reduction activities.
4. Leads a cross-functional team through all phases of product development, from concept to release, to delivery on time and within budget.
5. Establishes product roadmap for a market of customers across multiple product releases.
6. Develops and maintains all product management documentation, including product concept proposals, business cases, product requirements, formal product specifications for each release, launch plans, product collateral, sales training materials and product marketing collateral.
7. Establishes relationships with sales and sales engineers to position and sell products successfully, providing training and leadership on strategic opportunities.
8. Works closely with Field Services and Technical Support to integrate schedules in order to deliver and support products in the market in a timely fashion.
9. Monitors implementation of product projects driven by sales requests and customer requirements.
10. Assists Sales, Marketing, and Technical Services in kick-off training, collateral materials, pricing, product application, and site decommissioning as required.
11. Works closely with Operations, Production, and Purchasing to ensure product changes follow Engineering Change Order (ECO) and Product Change Notification (PCN) procedures.
12. Understands and implements corporate quality policy. Contributes to collection of data for company Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as defined in our client''s Systems ISO and TL processes.
13. Works with all company departments to ensure both unit and company goals are met. Provides reports detailing all major milestones for successful completion of each project.
14. Provides input on processes, procedures, materials, and services to support innovation and continuous improvement.
15. Takes responsibility for maintaining a safe working environment by following safety procedures, using personal protective equipment as appropriate, being aware of surroundings, and correcting or reporting potential safety hazards.
16. Completes other tasks, assignments, and projects as directed.
Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field required; MBA preferred.
2. At least two years of Product Management/Life Cycle/Marketing experience.
3. Telecommunications background, with knowledge of wireless and wireline industry and nomenclature.
Working Conditions:
The typical workweek is 40 hours, Monday through Friday, though shifts in production may involve fewer hours in a week or overtime, and may include some weekends. Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
The incumbent will work primarily in an office setting, but may conduct some work activities in a manufacturing environment. While in the production area, employees may be exposed to occupational hazards including, but not limited to, high noise levels, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals, etc., and must wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in appropriate areas and follow safety practices. The temperature in the production facility fluctuates with changing seasons.
