Human Resources Assistant/Intern (Spokane Valley)

Purcell Systems, the global leader in customized equipment cabinets and enclosures to protect and support telecommunications network equipment is seeking a Human Resources Assistant/Intern:
Provide overall support to the Human Resources department including, but not limited to employee relations, benefits administration, compensation, employment/recruitment, EEO/AA, training, and safety.
1. Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and recommending for selection, applicants to fill vacant positions.
2. Coordinate relocation efforts with applicable new hires or employee transfers.
3. Plan and conduct new employee orientation.
4. Administer benefit plans and programs including, but not limited to qualified and non-qualified deferred compensation; flexible spending; health, life, and accidental death and dismemberment insurance; worker's compensation insurance and; annual leave and leaves of absence.
5. Assist in administering the Company's compensation and salary programs according to state and federal laws and regulations.
6. Shadow the Human Resources Director in conducting exit interviews and ensuring disciplinary and termination actions are carried out according to Company policy as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
7. Coordinate certain training plans and objectives. Specifically, train employees and managers in areas such as sexual harassment, drug and alcohol, employee counseling, supervisory skills, performance appraisals, and hiring and interviewing skills.
8. Prepare and submit required reports to applicable governmental agencies.
9. Ensure performance appraisals are submitted and received in a timely manner.
10. Maintain and periodically report to the Human Resources Director, statistical information regarding the Company's personnel demographics including FTE data, attrition rates, EEO data, and absenteeism.
11. Assist in revising or developing Human Resources policies and procedures according to state and federal laws and regulations. Ensure Company personnel are trained and in compliance with these policies.
12. Maintain the Company's Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and personnel filing system.
13. Perform general clerical duties such as filing and data entry.
Education and Experience:
1. Recent graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Psychology or a related field; or incumbent is nearing completion of a Bachelor's degree in similar disciplines.
2. Extensive PC skills using MS Word, Excel, HRIS and other applicable programs.
3. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
