SPOKANE COUNTY CIVIL SERVICE IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR CIVIL SERVICE TECHNICIAN.
APPLICATION PACKETS
Submit the following documents to Civil Service when filing:
•Civil Service Application packet
•Sealed official high school and college transcripts (All transcripts must be sealed official copies and must be turned in at the time of application. If you do not have sealed official transcripts, you must turn in proof that they have been ordered and are on their way at the time of application.)
•College degree (copy if applicable)
•Sealed official GED (if applicable)
•Copy of DD-214, if applicable (Visit RCW 41.04.010 as to how Veteran’s Preference is applied.)
•Current driver’s license (copy)
•Birth certificate (copy)
•Social security card (copy)
•Copies of all training applicable to position
•Non-refundable $15.00 processing fee (check or money order payable to SCCSC; no cash will be accepted).
Application packets without the attached documents listed above will be considered incomplete and will not be accepted.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
•A U.S. citizen, at least 18 years of age, who can read and write the English language.
•High school graduate or equivalent (GED)
•Must be able to type accurately at the rate of 40 words per minute. This will be tested.
•Must have at least one (1) year of general office and/or secretarial experience, preferably in a civil service/personnel office. May substitute coursework or training in secretarial science or other related areas for up to six (6) months of the required work experience.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (Includes but is not limited to the following):
Maintain security and confidentiality of all examinations and files.
Answer phones and greet visitors; direct calls to appropriate staff; refer callers or visitors to correct destination; take messages as appropriate.
Pick up, sort, stamp and distribute incoming mail; prepare outgoing mail.
Pre-register applicants; when Notice of Examination is posted notify registered individuals by mail or e-mail. Accept completed applications and verify information for completeness; file and record information. Accept applicant processing fee; issue receipt to applicant.
Review and check work for accuracy and completeness prior to entering another phase of the work process; correct work prior to processing.
Gather, organize and copy written examinations and prepare informational test packets. Perform data entry for a variety of documents such as correspondence, agendas, schedules, and forms. Maintain databases for all examination applicants.
Prepare and maintain files within established filing system; enter and retrieve data using electronic files; maintain status and files reports.
Assist with proctoring entry-level and promotional written and physical examinations. Physical examinations may be conducted out-of-doors.
Assist Civil Service Specialist in verifying payroll of Sheriff’s Office. Will be back-up for department payroll.
When necessary, must be available to work evenings and weekends and to be able to work under inclement weather conditions.
Maintain stockroom including ordering, restocking, and inventory. Will be back-up for accounts payable.
Perform other related duties as required. Location: Spokane
Compensation: $1823.38-$2460.38/mo + benefits (37.5 hrs/wk)
